Hi, I’m Diane and I launched The Bushel Basket over 15 years ago when my children were small. It started out as a crafty little endeavor to bring in a little bit of money while staying at home to take care of my children, but over the years it morphed to include sewing, painting, web design, graphics, writing, guest spots on radio, advertising and now, YARN.
About 2 years ago, I picked up a hook and a skein of cheap yarn and was bound and determined to learn to crochet. (You can see my stunning first project here). After feverishly stitching up Christmas gifts for friends and family, I decided to take things to another level and opened up my Etsy shop, at first selling things designed soley for humans, but eventually adding fashions geared to doggy customers. It was at that time that I realized that our rescued dog, Archie, was a natural-born model and knew how to work the camera. This was HUGE surprise since he’s a dog that had a rough start to life, leaving him with many fears and issues in his journey. You’ll hear more about him over time and will see him modeling many of my projects. And don’t worry. He gets paid really well, and in his favorite currency: summer sausage.
I bring many of my crochet work to life through yarny creations and custom patterns. The quirkier, the better! I enjoy making custom items and unique matching doggy/human pieces because hey, who doesn’t want to match their pup? I also want to help others on their yarn-filled journeys with resources for online classes, tutorials, and materials to help make their crochet dreams come true.
I support spay/neuter and animal rescue. We have fostered and volunteer with various rescues and want nothing more than for every animal to have a safe, warm bed at night and a full tummy. Please consider helping your local rescue or shelter and be sure to spay or neuter your pet! There are many resources that will over discounted services for animals so it’s affordable for nearly anyone.
I currently live with my husband and pittie, Archie along with our children in a quiet neighborhood in the Midwest. I hate cooking, cleaning, and yard work but thoroughly enjoy the benefits when other do this for me. I love snow, comedy reruns, and most of all, my family and friends. I cannot wait to get to know each one of you as times goes and to share fun projects and new ideas!
