The Bushel Basket was launched a few years ago after a few misconceptions about our pit bull, Archie. Wanting to find a way to make people laugh at him rather than be fearful, I trained him to do a number of silly tricks. Eventually, I created dog accessories such as bow ties, hats, and flower collars, as well as a few other accessories that he could wear to bring a smile people’s faces. After I began selling these items locally and via Etsy, I realized that another true need for dogs like Archie are clothes to help keep him warm on chilly days. That’s when the doggy cowl was born.
Three years and hundreds of skeins of yarn later, I continue to strive to keep dogs warm and cozy while also helping them celebrate birthdays, Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, Halloween, Gotcha Day and more through my handmade creations.
What’s in store?
A lot is in store for 2018 that include patterns, funky new styles, and more “fun stuff for dogs and their humans.” I want nothing more than to know that the items I make, one at a time, will make someone’s day a little brighter!
In addition to being an avid crocheter, I also volunteer for a local animal rescue and support spay/neuter. I want nothing more than for every animal around the world to have a safe, warm bed at night and a full tummy. Please consider helping your local rescue or shelter and be sure to spay or neuter your pet! There are many resources that will offer discounted services for animals so it’s affordable for nearly anyone.
I cannot wait to get to know each one of you and look forward to seeing photos of the special animals in your lives.
