Paint brushes not
coming clean the way you want them to and you don't have any brush
cleaner? Vodka works great in a pinch! Simply dip your brushes
in, swirl, and rinse with clean water. Voila!

When storing glue after
opening stick a pin in the end and tie a string around the bottom, and
hang upside down that way the glue doesn't harden around the pin and
free flows when you are ready to use it.

To freshen bows at Christmas
time, or to straighten ribbon, instead of getting out your iron and ironing
board, use your curling iron instead. Just run curling iron down ribbon and
it will smooth out any wrinkles.
And to freshen a ribbon bow
without taking the bow apart, just run curling iron thru loops of bow and
streamers. Works great (takes out wrinkles, etc) and saves you time (don't
have to take bow apart) and saves money because you don't have to buy new
ribbon or new bows.
Just make sure you test it in
a non-conspicuous place to make sure ribbon can withstand heat. Or if you
have a low setting, use that.
Works good even on wire-edged
ribbon.

If you don't have a light box
for tracing designs on fabric or paper, tape your "original" to a window in
your home. Next, tape the fabric or paper to be traced onto over the
"original." The design you wish to trace becomes visible from the natural
light.

When making a fabric bow
with wired ribbon, I always use a matching pipecleaner to tie it together.
Then I attach it to the ribbons box. That way, it's much easier for people
to get off the box, and can be taken apart and re-tied into another bow
after ironing if you want to re-use it.
Also: semi-precious stone
chips,(i.e. rose quartz, peridot, amethyst, turquoise, etc.) are
inexpensive, fabulous decorations for crafts. They generally come on a
thread rope. You can lay down a line of transparent glue, and lay the rope
right on your line. Then the left over chips can be taken off the remaining
rope to fill in the occasional space.
